II. Advanced film workshop
Who is it for?
The advanced film workshop provides young/first-time filmmakers opportunity to cooperate and create an own film, whether short fiction, documentary or animation. Young filmmakers are expected who indend to realize an own film project, and need help with
- finalizing the script
- setting up appropriate film crew
- realizing phases of production (shooting, editing, sound post-production)
or those who would like to take up a role in film projects, such as cinematographer, editor, sound engineer, actor etc.

What the workshop offers
The advanced film workshop can offer the following background to realizing preparation, realization and post-production of films:
Technical equipment (depending on the quality and feasibility of the project):
16 mm or Super8 film camera
HDV or DV camera
raw material:

16 mm or S8 film (depending on the number of participants)
training staff of film professionals to prepare DV cassette, help with productions, student assistants of the basic workshop
optional master courses with world-famous film professionals of the MEDIAWAVE festival (in 2009 such as Alan Heim Oscar prize winning editor, or Vivi Dragan Vasile Romanian cinematographer)

Requirements of film projects

It is only possible to start shooting with a feasible, accepted script (by the head of workshop). The treatment of the future film needs to be attached to your application.
Remaking scripts in case of director-trainees can be started prior to the workshops via e-mail, but needs to be finished during the first 2 days of the workshop, otherwise the film cannot be finished during the workshop, which should be the case.
The trainers decide whether the project is feasible for the level of the trainee, including a feasible script, location, crew and actors (in case of feature films). In case these are not valid, shooting cannot be started. The staff of trainers and the background is there to avoid this, however, the creator must agree to that. Consequently, we only accept applications of those trainees who are able to accept advice from more experienced professionals and can make a compromise. Film making is a team effort, a sum of many practical ideas and solutions controlled by one individual, but it is important to learn to control and direct, to listen, analyse, accept or reject as well.
Those applying for cinematography, editing, sound engineering also take part in finalizing scripts, as well as other special trainings. Every film needs an individual production plan in the light of local circumstances, facilities and options for filming.

Planned schedule of the film workshop

Day 1-2: general schedule of production, production plan
- script, storyboard, production plan, finalizing crew/actors, casting, selection of locations
Day 3-4: shooting
Day 5: development (film material), in a temporary lab
Day 6-7: editing
Day 7-8: sound post-production
Day 9: closing day, evaluation, presentation of films
